Description
I painted the Rainbow Bridge with extra color, since rainbow implies the full range of color. This bridge crosses the American River in Folsom, California and the road on it is Greenback Lane.
The Rainbow Bridge was constructed in 1919 as the replacement for the Folsom Truss Bridge. It served the area before the Folsom Dam was built, in 1955, to control the raging winter torrents of the American River. This bridge is an outstanding example of a concrete arch bridge both for its span length and also for its unusually high level of aesthetic treatment, it was designed to be a signature bridge for Folsom. In 1969, the bridge was widened slightly. Additional deck beams appear to have been added to support the wider deck, but these beams were designed with the same arch shape as the original fascia beams, maintaining the original aesthetic appearance.
This 22” X 15” watercolor painting was done on Arches, rough, 140 lb paper.

Thank you Kim. One of my popular paintings which is probably due to the rich colors .
